Day 5 – Another rainy day. We decided to go the mouth of the mighty Mississippi River (that’s my boots standing at the very start of the Mississippi). We walked around in the rain and had so much fun. Then we had a heyday of fishing after the rains cleared.
When I began my business several years ago, I was told by an innovator: “You will be copied by people who are ok with stealing. However, you overcome them by never giving them your focus. You must stay focused on innovation.”
I hesitate to write about this because I’m so passionate about what I do. Being the youngest of three children, there’s a natural tendency to take up for myself and fight. I know more often than not that I occasionally sound defensive about my products and what I do but it’s only because I love doing this so much. I’m fully invested, so to speak. Even on vacation during this one week, three more copies of my product popped up and, of course, I feel it each time.
I encourage myself with this powerful word of wisdom: “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom.”
I constantly think on that phrase. Do the work before you and don’t look back. Continue to push through with your vision and receive no distraction. I do admit to getting derailed from time to time. However, it’s all about having persistence and even a bit of defiance. Be defiant to the detractors of your vision. Be rebellious to those who choose an easy way of stealing by outworking them. Be passionate in your pursuit of your dream and ignorant to those who trail behind. Fight. For all it’s worth, people do hang in the balance within our right or wrong decisions.
