Playing with the kids yesterday and I spotted this awesome patch of grass growing right through the asphalt and of course I was ready to grab a photo because I was wearing my MoneyMaker with the awesome Sony A7r and an older Leica 90 f/2.8 lens attached. What I see in this is that life finds a way. In the face of all adversity we invent, we discover and we fight. Some of us break through the veil of security to do something new. We find a crack in the asphalt and push right through. We are all capable of making a difference in the scenery around us.

What I also see is that far too many of us decide that asphalt is too hard to push through. It is in us to find a way but it’s also really easy to quit. If the lesson you learn through a loss is how not to lose again then you’re not learning, you’re just managing. Your mindset shouldn’t be to avoid the asphalt, it should be about doing something that’s never been done. And usually something that’s unique requires a few failures. It’s pretty cool looking at that photo, it’s like this little patch of grass was the only patch brave enough to fight through the asphalt (speaking metaphorically of course).

The masses walked the earth until one man made the wheel. The masses lived in darkness until 1 man made the lightbulb. What does that say about the masses?

Never assume that majority is stronger and more correct. Never take their word for it. Never trust the attackers because attackers attack out of fear, ignorance, lust…all the darkest things. Change happens in the midst of the darkest hour, push through for the sake of many in spite of many.
