RYOT has reporter Christian Stephen on the ground in Iraq, where he talked with a brave Yazidi woman who escaped the militants’ clutches and who now dares to speak out about what’s happening to her people. Christian is using the MoneyMaker right now to help aid in carrying his equipment quickly and efficiently:
The Yazidi tribe, a Kurdish community who calls Iraq’s Nineveh province home, is desperate for help. For centuries, they’ve been persecuted for their religious beliefs, and for the last month, they’ve been the target of ISIS — and the militants’ goal could be genocide.
As ISIS kidnaps Yazidi women, mass-executes Yazidi men, and crucifies innocent Yazidi children, the Yazidi tribe tries to flee their home before it’s too late.
“I saw hundreds of people killed by ISIS. They killed thousands, but I saw hundreds killed with my eyes,” she said. “I saw many men and women converting to Islam,” the woman continues. “They were threatening us with guns and knives if we did not… They forced us many times [to be intimate with the men].”
What this woman wants most of all is to rescue others who are still in captivity. Listen to her chilling story, and you’ll see just why ISIS must be stopped before they can hurt any more innocents.
