The Holidays are approaching and has me thinking about these guys a lot. From left to right: Ryder-Presley (8) Navy (1) and Lola (6) aka The Swagglets. One thing that’s really been on my mind is that whatever I allow into my life, THEY will have access to.
My Habits now become their normal life. Good and bad, they will pick them up. My family will have access to what I allow into my personal life. That’s a sobering idea that should help us all define our ideals as we grow. I don’t want my kids to have access to alcoholism therefore I will not allow that into my home and so on. But in simpler things, I want my kids to have access to winning habits, so I am now looking at everything I do. Little things like reading more, letting them see me read and also making sure I read to and with them often. Opening doors for my wife and making sure my boys see how to treat a lady and making sure my daughter is seeing how she should be treated as well. Another habit I’d like to get better about is not letting technology have the center of my attention. I don’t want them to have access to bad habits so my challenge today is to get more disciplined in the little things.
My thoughts for today are going towards my actions to find what I can change on behalf of my children. “You shall teach good habits diligently to your sons and daughters and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.”
