From the get-go, HoldFast’s allegiance lies in this: steadfast dedication to professional photographers and the systems they utilize. Committed to paving the way, HoldFast gear accentuates style while also performing comfortably and efficiently. Responsible for creating a new genre within the industry, we’re changing the way photographers look and feel while doing their best work.

In this series, you’ll hear stories of HoldFast gear and the photographers–the pioneers, the adventurers, the originals–that use them. This is How You HoldFast.

From the beginning, Peter Barnes makes it very clear: he’s here for the storytelling. The Lincoln, Nebraska photographer behind Intrepid Visuals has been shooting weddings, exclusively, for upwards of three years, and there is never any doubt about what his mission is for his couples. If he’s captured the people, he’s captured the memories, and that’s all there is to it.

For the entire duration of my photography career, especially shooting weddings, backup and redundancy have been two huge priorities. I never wanted to take the risk of only shooting an important event with only one camera, much in the same way where I would never shoot an important event with just one memory card,” Barnes says. It was absolutely a necessity that he’d never shoot a wedding with just a single camera body. “Having an effective way to work with two cameras during the entire wedding day was paramount.”

After seeing a fellow photographer friend wearing a HoldFast Money Maker, something clicked for Barnes. “For me, the design and aesthetic of the Money Maker is what got me interested. It instantly became clear that this was the product that I needed,” explains Barnes.

To this date, Barnes has owned three Money Makers–in addition to the Sightseer Sling in black–and not once has he regretted it, not only because of its stylishness and comfort, but also because of its durability.

“It keeps everything so close and prevents your cameras from flopping around your legs while you’re moving quickly! Combining function and form in such an amazing way really has created an incredible system in my business that allows me to confidently have two cameras at my side and never have to worry about them,” Barnes says.

Having tried every other two-camera harness on the market, Barnes says there’s absolutely no competition with the Money Maker.

“Branding is a huge part of my business! Combine that with rock solid functionality and you get a truly incredible product. I’ve used pretty much every dual camera system on the market and none of them are as effective, let alone as stylish, as the HoldFast Money Maker.”

“It easily surpasses any other dual camera harness. Once I finally purchased one for myself and shot a wedding with it, I knew there was no going back to anything else. It truly has become an essential part of my kit! I do not know what I would be doing with two cameras if i did not have the Money Maker.”

As a multi-camera harness, the Money Maker allows photographers to carry their cameras hands-free when shooting, but is also designed with a quick release clip that allows photographers to disconnect from the harness in an instant. The main clip is designed in a similar style to the clip that holds a sail to a boat; while extremely strong, it can also be unclipped and untangled and then reattached very quickly.

“The quick disconnect feature of the Money Maker clip is the best implementation that I’ve seen. The mechanism that allows the cameras to quickly disconnect from the Money Maker itself is absolutely incredible. This alone has allowed me to capture moments that I may have missed with other systems.

Barnes elaborates: “I only use prime lenses for most of my work, specifically the Fujinon 23 1.4, the 56 1.2, and the 80mm 2.8. Being able to walk into a wedding with two of these lenses on at all times has allowed me to capture such a wider range of situations than I would have been able to with my big 24-70. Shooting with a Money Maker has allowed me to completely move to a prime-only lens set up. Being able to switch between a 35mm and 85mm focal length is so important to my style.”
